Double Art Show Opening
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 5-6pm: Athens West Side Chat with Arian Smedley. Athens West Side City Council Representative, Arian Smedley will be at Arts West to meet and talk with West Side residents about what they're happy with and what they'd like to see changed in their neighborhood.
Saturday, Feb. 29, 5-9pm:  Athens DIY Wine, Mead & Venison Competition. Athens Do-It-Yourself Shop presents their annual winter contest at Arts West. Sample and judge some great locally homebrewed wine, mead, cider, and delicious venison dishes. $15 for the souvenir judging glass to enjoy all the festivities. Bring 2 bottles (extras always appreciated) or a venison dish to share to get souvenir glass and judge for free. Bring one bottle for a 1/2 price glass. 21 and over ONLY. Please bring ID. Sunday, March 1, 4-7pm: Athens Noise Show / installment two. Three hours of sounds, drones, noises, notes, music, and other weird stuff, with performances from Weedghost, Dinner of Swords, David Colagiovanni, Robert McClure, Noise_MF, and more. $5 suggested donation / bring some food to share. Presented by the Municipal Endowment for the Sonic Arts and Aquabear Legion. More Info @ Athens Noise Show / installment two
Friday, March 6, 5-7pm: Art Reception for Savannah Freeman's, "Outside", & Hannah Sickles', "The Everyday".  An exhibit of original hand-made artworks by Savannah Freeman of Moonville Print Shop and Hannah Sickles of Saturday Darlings Studio. The double opening will also feature food, drinks, and live piano from Metra Peterson with vocals from Chelsa Peterson Morahan. Meet the artists and purchase some beautiful art! Thursday-Saturday, March 26-28: The Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange.
A Benefit for Arts West! For over a decade the Cat’s Pajamas Clothing Exchange has brought countless Athenians the joy of “new” clothes in a fun and community minded way. Clothing and other wearable items can be dropped off at Arts West during our regular office hours of 11am-6pm, Mon-Fri (additional drop-off times may be available during classes or events scheduled beyond office hours. Plesse call for those times).
How it Works:
For a Golden Ticket 
(for unlimited items), bring unwanted clothes to Arts West now through March 26, pay exchange entry only once (either $15 Fri, March 27, or $10 Sat, March 28), and return to exchange unlimited times with no additional fee.
For a Regular Ticket (take as many items as you brought, additional items $1 each), bring clothes on exchange days (March 27 & 28), pay entry only once (either $15 Fri, or $10 Sat), and return to exchange unlimited times with no additional fee.
For Members Night: Thursday, March 26th, is open to all current or new Arts West members, with no entry fee. Sign up for membership will be available. (Members who attend members night can return to exchange unlimited times with no additional fee).

Now through March 25: Cat Art Show Call for Art. For the 3rd Annual Cat Art Show & Traveling Exhibit! On Display April 3rd-25th at Arts West & April 29th-May 25th at Casa Nueva. Accepting Works now through March 25th​ at Arts West​​. Any members of the Athens, Ohio, community and beyond who want to show-off their cat themed works including painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, graphic design work and photography may submit up to four artworks into Cat Art Show. The exhibit will be on display for approximately two months, April 3-May 25, and at two different venues! The ​​Cat Art Show opening reception ​at Arts West ​tak​es​ place on April 3rd​ and will feature live cat themed music, videos, snacks & beverages. As a traveling exhibit, the ​show​​ will ​transition​ from Arts West to the walls of Casa Nueva & Cantina ​fo​r the month of May. ​Casa will host a Cinco de Meow Art Reception & Fundraiser for the Athens Humane Society on May 5th featuring live music and cat themed drinks.

Offered in 10 or 11 week sessions for Spring 2020. Students in grades K-5 will experience arts instruction in a variety of disciplines. Students can be registered for one or more days per week.

Class Descriptions & Instructor Bio:
Mondays: Geek Arts
Dates: Mar. 16 - May  18, 2020 (10 weeks of class​ ​​due to Memorial Day​)
Description: Students will "geek out" with this innovative art class! The focus will be on the creation of games and comics, as well as the development of world building and character design.
Tuesdays: Art of Darkness
Dates: Mar. 17 - May 26, 2020 (11 weeks)
Description: This visual art class will focus on the theme "Art of Darkness". We will be exploring caves, monsters and anything else that thrives in the dark! Utilizing various materials and techniques, students will create projects in both 2-D and 3-D format.
Wednesdays: Puppet Design
Dates: Mar. 18 - May 27, 2020 (11 weeks)
Description: Students will spend time learning about multiple puppet making and performing techniques, and will get to make at least four different types of puppets to take home with them.
Thursdays: Solar Powered!
Dates: Mar. 19 - May 28, 2020 (11 weeks)
Description: Utilizing various materials and techniques, students will create projects that reflect the power of the sun! Art projects will include both 2-D and 3-D format.
Instructor: April Felipe - April is a professional ceramic artist with an MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University. She has decades of experience teaching classes, at camps, and outreach opportunities for children in the visual arts. She brings a wealth of knowledge, and a delightful energetic sense of humor to her classroom.
Monday - Friday, June 1-19, ​8:30am-4:30pm: ​​​OVST 2020 Summer Camp​.​
​​Ohio Valley Summer Theater​ Presents Another Fun Three Weeks of Theater Magic!​ ​Once again, both a Childrens Camp ​(​rising K-6th grade​)​, and a Teen Camp ​(rising ​7-12th grade​)​​ will be offered​. Both camps run simultaneously and culminate in a final performance ​and reception​ on Friday, June 19th​, at 2:30pm​! ​ Fee is $350 for 3 weeks (includes t-shirt), and ​​campers will need to bring a packed lunch.​

​The OVST​ 2020 Summer Camp ​is​ themed “When I Grow Up”​. Campers will explore basic theatrical concepts and skills led by the camp staff and occasional workshop presenters, along with crafts, games, and the building of a camp show. Campers can choose the theater areas they find most appealing whether it be technical or performance. Campers will gain knowledge and experience in theatrical production in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

Campers will spend the majority of the day split into two age groups, youth (1st – 6th grade) and teens (7th – 12th grade). The camp will serve 30 children.

​​Space is limited. Please reserve your spot, make payment and download registration forms at​. ​N​o payments will be accepted during camp hours. All payment​s​ must be taken care of online. ​T​he last day to register​ is​ Monday, May 25, 2020. There are no reimbursements for missed days by individual campers.​

Tuesdays, Starting Feb. 4, 6-7pm: Bellydance with Eliot! Come learn the cooperative, team dance sport that is Improvisational Team Style (ITS) Bellydance! Build strength and flexibility while moving to killer music. Great fun for all levels: ITS​ challenges experienced dancers in new ways, while immediately integrating beginners in the groove! Gender neutral, self-image-empowering exercise for your brain and body! Come join our dance family​! $10 Drop in rate, $8 a class with a one month package (February = $32). Thursday, Feb. 20, 6-9pm: Third Thursday Square Dance Social & Jam. Caller Joe Burdock and award winning band Big Possum, from WV, will offer an evening of lively old time music. All levels welcome. No partner needed. Come dance or stop in just to listen. Bring friends, a good attitude & an adult beverage of your choice (with valid 21+ ID). Friday, Feb. 21, 8-10:45pm: Drum & Music Jam. A night of drumming and dancing, open to all levels and ages. The circle is not limited to drums. Any and all acoustic instruments are welcome. Put the worry of your days away and become one with the rhythm. Whether you drum, dance or just listen and take it in, there is a place here for everyone. Friday, Feb. 7, 7pm: Moon Tunnel Graduate Literary Reading Series. Sponsored by Ohio University Dept. of English, this series features the work of Creative Writers from OU's graduate programs.
