DEADLINE EXTENDED
FOR PUBLIC MURAL PROJECT PROPOSALS
The Athens Municipal Arts Commission (A.M.A.C.) is seeking submissions for a mural to be installed at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (W.W.T.P.).
The City of Athens has allocated approximately $3000 ($2250 stipend and $750 materials cost) for a permanent work of public art to be installed on the sides of two clarifiers at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
It is expected that work on the site can begin on or around April 15, 2019 with anticipated completion prior to July 1, 2019. Please note that weather may delay the start date and the exact date will be determined by the City Safety and Service Director.

Athens HOPE - Halting Opioid Abuse through Prevention and Education, is a community group founded in 2017 to aid in the fight against the opioid epidemic. The group is committed to preventing opioid abuse by educating children, parents, and college students about the realities of opioid addiction and encouraging treatment by reducing the stigma surrounding addiction.
Founded through a university/community partnership between the Athens City-Council Health Department, Ohio University's College of Health Sciences and Professions and OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital, the group now encompasses a number of area educators, health professionals and local leaders.
