Open Dance Nights and Music!

Open Dance Nights
Southeast Ohio Traditional Dance Society and 
ARTS/West Presents
are pleased to host three evenings of
open dance and music!

Thursdays: June 8, July 13, August 10
7:00-9:00pm at ARTS/West 132 W. State St., Athens

Want to Dance? - Everyone is welcome to dance
No dance experience is necessary. No partner is needed. The evening will include contra dancing and whatever else people bring!

Musicians – You are welcome to play any kind of dance music.

Dancers - Anyone is welcome to teach some dancing. Bring appropriate recorded music or musicians.

Opening Reception for Group Exhibit, Unified Diversity, of works by the Innovative Arts Alliance

Innovative Arts Alliance 
at ARTS/West

Innovative Arts Alliance began in 1999 with founding members Diane Eyerman, Anna Prince, and Andrea Stern.  The group's intention was to provide support and development among the individual members.  The roster includes woodworkers, printmakers, ceramicists, and collage artists as well as art quilters, who are the base of the group. This exhibit is included in the Crazy Quilt Crawl 2017 for the month of June to coincide with Quilt National at The Dairy Barn Arts Center.

The opening reception is Thursday, June 8, 3:30 - 5:30 pm. 
Light refreshments served.

The exhibit will run until June 30th.  
ARTS/West is open Monday - Thursday, 10am - 4 pm

Position: Full-Time Art Teacher
Duration: 2017 - 2018 School Year
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of teaching, and will hang art in the hallways throughout the school year. 
 Location: Amesville Elementary School (Kindergarten through Sixth Grade) in Amesville, Ohio (just outside of Athens, Ohio).
Qualifications: B.A. in Visual Art, and teaching experience with elementary-aged children.

The SATB Choir presents Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury” at ARTS/West, June 11th at 7:00pm

Join ARTS/West Sunday, June 11th at 7:00pm when the SATB choir presents 
Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury” and other selections to inspire justice and compassion. 

The concert benefits Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) an organization of volunteers advocating for children in our legal system. 

Suggested donation of $10 or $15 for a family.

Ohio Valley Summer Theater's 10th annual Youth Camp in collaboration with Columbus Area Theatre Company, CATCO, has opened enrollment for youth entering 2nd to 12 grades. The camp which runs from June 5 to 23 features two professional workshops with deep Athens roots.

Campers will have an opportunity to work with a professional clown, improv with an expert, and try their hand at writing and performing sketch comedy with guidance from college sketch groups. For those wanting to specialize in technical aspects of theater, there is a track for them as well.  The camp will culminate in free public performances on June 23.
