The Laramie Project

Athens High School along with ABC Players and ARTS/West Presents bring a staged reading of The Laramie Project to ARTS/West on May 3rd at 7:30 p.m.  The play, written by Mois├ęs Kaufman and the members of the Tectonic Theater Project, is based on the true story of the hate crime that resulted in the torture and murder of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay student at the University of Wyoming.  The play features portraits of the community’s response to the murder in what has been called the modern Our Town. Matthew Shepard's murder brought to light the lack of laws against hate crimes in Wyoming and throughout the United States.

This is a one-time performance.  It will not be repeated.

There is no admission charge.  A $10 contribution is suggested to help defray the cost of the production.
