Mark Your Calendars: Sew it! Cat’s Pajamas Sewing Classes

In conjunction with Cat's Pajamas, ARTS/West is hooking up with one of Athens premier costumers, Nellie Werger, to present some sewing classes prior to and during the Cat's Pajamas event! Please see below for more information:

Sew it! Cat’s Pajamas Sewing Classes
All classes are donation based.
March 14, 1-3pm
Can't sew on a button? In this class you will learn some basic sewing skills, patching and mending. You could hem a skirt, replace the elastic, sew on that button so it will never come off again. Learn how to make your wardrobe last longer and work better. We can even work on how to darn socks! So bring your mending! I will bring in a sewing machine and supplies for hand sewing.
March 21, 1-3pm
In conjunction with the Cat's Pajamas Clothing exchange you will learn to upscale, recut, remake, alter and transform. Love the fabric? But hate the shape? Doesn't fit? We can show you how to take something that doesn't work and make it into something that does. We will use cast offs as materials for other projects, from slight modification to total deconstruction and reconstruction. Please bring scissors and I will bring a sewing machine and a Serger. Materials generously provided by Cat’s Pajamas.
March 28, 1-3pm
Making your new treasures work for you. I will be present during Cat’s Pajamas to consult and teach you how to make alterations or upscale your Cat’s Pajamas treasures. We will make good use of everything from ragged jeans to old t-shirts. They can all be made into useful and decorative garments.
