Friday, December 6th at The Union at 9pm

The event is put on by Hocking College students and FREE, but donations are appreciated. All proceeds benefit The Gathering Place and ARTS/West. AGES 21 and over only.

ARTS/West Presents: Film viewing of "Hugo" and "Journey to the Moon"

Family Film Event  - Saturday, December 7th from 3-530pm!

"Hugo" is a 2011 historical adventure drama film based on Brian Selznick's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret about a boy who lives alone in the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris and discovers a magical connection between his departed father and a shop keeper in the station. It is directed and co-produced by Martin Scorsese. Rated PG.

Immediately following “Hugo” we will present the short, silent film, “A Trip to the Moon”, made in 1902 by French film maker, Georges Méliés. We will be showing a recently restored, hand-painted version of this 15 minute piece of film history.

Suggested Donation at the door: Adults $5; Kids $2; Age 4 and under Free

ARTS/West Presents: Member Appreciation Day! Sunday, December 1st from 2-4pm.

Ugly sweater party to celebrate our much appreciated ARTS/West members. There will be an array of food, holiday music and board games!

Open Doors Presents Amateur Drag Show!

Open Doors will be hosting an Amateur Drag Show to raise money for students to travel to Midwest, Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Ally College Conference. (MBLGTACC).

Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8:00pm !

ARTS/West Presents: New Dances by Missy Whaley - THIS WEEKEND!

ARTS/West Presents announces New Dances by Missy Whaley and Guest Artist, Chelsea Goettge.

On Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th at 8pm, local dancer and choreographer Missy Whaley will be taking the stage at ARTS/West to present a new dance, music, multi-layered performance featuring local dancers and musicians.

Dancers include Adrienne Covington, Tobe Gillogly, Darcy Higgins, Quinn Schmalenberg and CC Ruchti. They most recently performed together in the parade, Honey for the Heart, on Court Street on Saturday, October 26th.

There will be an $8 suggested donation, $3 for students or free for children 12 and under. Donations of new or gently used pair of winter boots for tweens and teens will be accepted at the door. All boots will be donated to the Athens County Children Services.

Many Moons Exotic Market Returns

Many Moons returns to ARTS/West for their holiday show and sale of personally selected jewelry, textiles, wood and metal sculptures, sacred objects and unique gift items, from journeys to Thailand, Bali, India and Nepal. Throughout their travels, honoring the cultural traditions and supporting artisans has been the intent of the two travelers, Eric and Saffron. Please join us for some delightful shopping!

Art Salon featuring Marlene L'Abbe

Art Opening for Marlene L'Abbe will be Friday, November 8th 2013 until December 2nd 2013. The opening will take place from 6-9pm and is a free event.

The Arts, the Economy and Entrepeneurship

ARTS/West presents, The Arts, the Economy and Entrepreneurship: A Community Forum.
On Wednesday, November 6th 2013 at 7:00pm, we will be featuring a special screening of a short documentary. This documentary was created by Brian Plow and showcases the emergence of the artists' community in York, Pennsylvania.

This forum is also a chance for the community to hear what you have to say about the arts, the economy and how artists sustain themselves, struggle, create and invest in themselves in Athens County.
