At 6:30pm, during the opening, Brad Modlin, Christina Veladota and the Athens' Poet Laureate, Alison Stine will take the stage in honor of National Poetry Month.
Brad Modlin's poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction have appeared in Denver Quarterly, Indiana Review, The Florida Review, The Pinch, and River Teeth, among others. His work has been nominated for several Pushcart Prizes. He holds an MFA from Bowling Green and is a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at Ohio University.
Christina Veladota is the author of two chapbooks of poetry, Clutch & Brood (Aldrich Press, 2016) and The Girl & Her Lions(Finishing Line Press, 2010). Her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in a variety of literary journals, including The Laurel Review, Hotel Amerika, The Journal, Dialogist, and Mid-American Review. She is an associate professor of English Composition & Literature at Washington State Community College, in Marietta, OH, where she also serves as coordinator of The WSCC Honors Program. She is a 2014 recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award.
Alison Stine is the author of a novel SUPERVISION and three books of poems. Her work has appeared in dozens of magazines including: The Nation, The Paris Review, Tin House, and The Kenyon Review. Recipient of a 2015 Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, she is Athens first Poet Laureate. She works as a freelance reporter and lives in Athens with her son.
