Join Dr. Maung Gyi at ARTS/West for a Dhot-ta (short stick) Class on Sunday, July 17th from 7:30-9:30pm. $10-15 fee collected at the door. Stick around for pizza and a social hour with Dr. Gyi until 10:30pm. In ancient times, there were primitive methods of taking care of oneself, especially joint and muscle pain. One of the simplest methods used by SHUDRAS (slaves and servants or menial and manual workers) involved working tools to ease their stresses. Dhot-ta used a short stick (farm tool) to: 1. stretch out tight or knotted muscles 2. press at body parts (accupressure) 3. gather internal energy through breath to calm the body and mind before and during self treatment.
