Come out to ARTS/West on Friday, July 8th from for a night of evening entertainment. Shake it the old fashion way to the fine fiddling of Matt Mcelroy and the gang and the calling of Joe Burdock. There will be snacks but bring your own adult beverages. Party starts @ 7pm (come early if it's your first time) or just come hang out, socialize and listen since it's only $6! Also, we will once again have an old fashion soda bar and snacks provided by Twist One Up!
Come out to ARTS/West and marvel at the 80s night collage posters for the DJ Barticus 80s Nights at Casa, created by Emily Beveridge. For the first time they will be available to purchase, and in a full sized poster format! Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, July 7th from 6:30-8:30pm and will feature refreshments as well as a live DJ set of 80s tunes performed by DJ Barticus himself. The show will be on display in the ARTS/West Gallery Space from July 7th to August 3rd and will be available during regular business hours (M-TH, 10am-4pm), during special events, or call 740-592-4315 to schedule a time.
Come out to ARTS/West on Sunday, July 3rd for the monthly session of Community Yoga! Classes are always on the first Sunday of the month, noon-1pm and free for ARTS/West members (for as little as $30 a year you can become a member!) or a $5 suggested donation for non-members. Contact ARTS/West at 740-592-4315 for more information. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat. Classes are taught by Becky Anderson.

Come out to ARTS/West on Thursday, June 30th at 1:00 pm and enjoy some of your favorite patriotic songs as well as some new ones performed by members of the Athens County Community Singers and SATB. The Athens County Community Singers is "a choir for all voices" and is a non-profit organization.

The first stop on the 2016 Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic tour is ARTS/West! Join them on Wednesday, June 29th at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm, donations are welcome at the door. Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, America’s premier youth fiddling show band from Saline, Michigan, astounds audiences every time the group takes the stage. The musicians, all from Saline High School, present an energetic group and polished show that features a diverse range of music from American folk, fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing, and Celtic traditions. Spirited vocals and Appalachian step dancing combine with the instrumentals to create an unforgettable live performance. This fully equipped, amplified, self-contained performance group is highly adaptable; no venue is too small, no stage is too large!
Composer, Pianist, and Recording Artist Dan Kennedy will play a contemporary Solo Piano concert at 7:30pm, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at ARTS/West. Classically trained at the Oberlin and New England Conservatories, Dan will play an original coffeehouse-style set influenced by Classical, Jazz, and World. This concert is open to all ages. Dan's latest album Bloom Road peaked at #7 on the ZMR Top 100, an American Chart, and at #4 on the OWM Top 100, a British chart. His much-anticipated 2015 election into Whisperings and Enlightened Piano have put him into an elite of modern-day solo piano artists. Dan's music can be heard on 250 radio stations, including SiriusXM, Pandora, Spotify, and Music Choice. In June, his Heartland Tour 2016 will take him from his home among the rolling farmlands of Western Massachusetts to the Mississippi River and back, with stops in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, and Maryland.

Youth Camp 2016 will explore Japanese Culture and work with scripted plays. Skills include development, movement dance, and storytelling with workshops in puppets, costumes, and make-up. A technical theater track is also available. Campers will gain knowledge and experience in theatrical and technical production in a fun and supportive atmosphere, led by experienced teachers, Carol Patterson (teen camp) and Bonnie Hall (elementary camp). Camp dates are Monday-Friday, June 6th-24th. Rising 2nd grade through rising 6th grade, 9am-11:30am, rising 7th grade through rising 12th grade, 12-3pm. Join us on Thursday, June 9th from 6-8 pm for the art opening of "Imaginary Landscapes" by local Chris Melfi. His show will be up in the ARTS/West gallery space until July 5th and is available for viewing during regular business hours (M-TH, 10am-4pm), or please call ARTS/West at 740-592-4315 to set up a special time. The opening on June 9th is free and open to the public with a light reception. Here is what Chris Melfi has to say about his "Imaginary Landscapes" exhibit: "The images I've drawn in this series are from my imagination. Although I enjoy seeing old barns and such, these images are only in my mind, expressed on paper with pens, ink, and pencils and done in the comfort of my home without models or photographs. Let the mind wonder and bring back the details."
