Highschool Stage Combat Workshop!

Highschool Stage Combat Workshop
June 25 — June 28, 2012

The Summer Stage Combat Workshop at Ohio University is an introduction to creating the illusion of violence for stage and screen. 

This workshop will:
  • Cover the basics of safely performing stage combat.
  • Teach fundamental skills that promote safety and dramatic effectiveness.
  • Teach specific techniques in multiple theatrical weapons such as broadsword, knife and single sword. 
Short scenes will be developed and presented on the last meeting day for family and friends.

Residential with meals (4 Days, 3 Nights): $350
Commuter with meals: $275
Commuter with no meals: $175

Students must be at least 15 years old and/or entering their sophomore year
in high school. A separate course is offered for college students.

Brian Evans is an Assistant Professor in the School of Theater at Ohio University. He is a certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors. Brian has choreographed for Oxford Shakespeare Festival, Monomoy Theatre and numerous colleges and universities. He has taught at regional and high school workshops across the country.

Tonya Lynn is a freelance actor, fight choreographer and teacher based in Pittsburgh,
PA. She is an Advanced Actor-Combatant with the Society of American Fight directors and has also trained with the United Stuntmen’s Association. Tonya particularly enjoys providing young actors with an introduction to the field of stage combat. She has taught at workshops across the country.
