Athens Rock Camp for Girls

Athens Rock camp for Girls and ARTS/West invites you to attend a public concert on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5 and donations will be accepted.

30 girls ages 11-18 and their instructors have been meeting at ARTS/West for a week to learn to rock, form a band, and put together a show! You are invited to join them in their first ever rock show!

performances: MISSUNDERSTOOD, THE FISTS, THE OUTER CENTER, REJECTED SOULS, ANAKLUSMOS, CAUGHT RED HANDED, TRANSVESTITES WITH SCISSORS...AND OREGANO

Instructors: CINDY CRABB | Singer + guitarist in local punk band Snarlas. Author of zine, Doris; CATY CRABB | Singer for local band Snarlas. Local Herbalist; SUSAN MUSSER | Organist, guitarist, singer + drummer for local bands Wheels on Fire, The B-Side. Freelance editor and writing tutor; TESSA EVANOSKY | Guitarist + drummer in local bands Snarlas, B-Side; MAURE
EN NEER | Guitarist + singer for local band Octopus and Owl; CAIT NOLAN | Has a BFA in Printmaking and a BS in Art Education and is the drummer for The Bummers; DANDELION DUFF | Guitarist + singer for The Bummers and Style Star. Studying Psychology of Poverty and Documentary Film at OU; MADELINE FFITCH | Member if the experimental theater company, The Missoula Oblongata; DIEDRA BARLOW | from NY Band JUST and has taught at Columbus Girls Women Rock Camp.

The Athens Rock Camp for Girls builds self esteem through music creation and performance. By providing workshops and technical training, we create leadership opportunities, cultivate a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourage social change and the development of life skills.
Through community support and monetary donations, we are
committed to keeping Athens, Ohio Rock Camp for Girls as low cost as possible to enable participation for individuals from all economic backgrounds.
