Check out April!

Hey Gang, if you are in Athens, OH we hope you are having a lovely spring break. It is snowing as I type this. (Insert something pithy about that here).

We have a lot going on this spring and we look forward to seeing you!

3/26/11, 1:00pm-4:00pm Spin-In- The Athens County Women's Art Guild and ARTS/West would like to invite you to come and enjoy the art of spinning and share in the love of all things fiber. The 2011 Spin Ins will be held at ARTS/West on Saturdays, March 26, April 9th and 23rd and May 14th and 28th from 1pm to 4pm. Everyone is welcome and you can bring you spinning wheel, drop spindle, knitting or crocheting or just come to watch. We will have women demonstrating the art of spinning and are willing to share the experience. Please come and bring your materials to share in the fun. We will also be demonstrating fiber dyeing, knitting, crocheting, and felting techniques in some of the later sessions. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Nancy Baur at musictoo@hotmail.com. Hope to see you soon!

4/2-4/3/11, 8:00 pm- Graffiti a new play by Shawn Grindle in which every line of dialogue comes from graffiti found across the continental United States. It is an absurd look at what the underground artists of America have to say. The graffiti has been organized to tell the story of three struggling artists who have been so unsuccessful that their struggle becomes the driving force in their lives. Through graffiti, vandalism, and philosophy they attempt to discover the importance that art has in the world, and how dangerous it can be. April 2nd and 3rd 8:00 PM. ARTS/West.
Please note: Graffiti contains adult themes and situations and is not appropriate for children.
**This performance is presented free as a part of the ARTS/West Presents Series.** Donations will be encouraged.

4/29/11, 7:00pm; 4/30-5/1, 1:00pm-6:00pm- Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange

Hello Cats & Kitties! The Cat's Pajamas Clothing Exchange is back for it's third year to bring you a whole new wardrobe of clothes. Last year we basically filled the entire basement of ARTS/West with items, and we hope to be full to bursting again this time. The preview party featuring DJ Barticus and FREE AVALANCHE PIZZA will occur on Friday, April 29th from 7pm-10pm. The preview party will allow you to have first access to all... of the early donations of clothing we will be receiving. The regular exchange hours are Saturday, April 30th & Sunday, May 1st from 1-6pm.

The way the exchange works is:

* Bring any unwanted clothing items to ARTS/West (132 W. State) before the first day of the event & you will be able to take as many items as you like throughout the entire event!

* If you bring clothes with you during any scheduled event hours, you can take as many items as you bought, each additional items costs $1.

* Customers pay $5 entry during the event weekend. Once customers have paid entry they can come back as many times as they like. (you only pay entry once)

* Proceeds benefit ARTS/West: Athens Community Gateway to the Arts.

*We will be seeking volunteer clothing sorters the week of the event, and during the event hours. All volunteers get free entry all weekend, unlimited clothing items, and have first dibs on any items they like while they sort.
