Walking Home by Elaine Romero
Tired of her life and her inability to love or be loved, Maria cuts her veins next to the Santa Monica Pier. She enters the world of her spirit, a dry desert, where she meets the "Woman in the Sand" who guides her to face her past. She brings with her other women who tell their painful stories, helping Maria not only remember her past but rewrite it and make the decision to live. The text uses stories of women on the Border.
