Ohio Citizens for the Arts, established in 1976, is a volunteer nonprofit grass roots organization working to increase public support of the arts in Ohio.
Through the efforts of thousands of individuals and arts and education organizations, Ohio Citizens for the Arts advocates on behalf of arts and culture throughout the state.

You can play your part in protecting Ohio's arts and cultural assets by joining Ohio Citizens for the Arts. We will provide you with information and resources so that you can be connected locally, statewide, and nationally.

How does Ohio Citizens for the Arts
Carryout its mission?
Ohio Citizens for the Arts:

  • Monitors and speaks out on public policy issues affecting the arts and arts education in Ohio.
  • Provides a year-round presence at the Statehouse through legislative counsel and a network of volunteer arts advocates.
  • Provides information to individuals, members of the legislature, and state administration about issues that are important to the arts at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Advocates for all arts disciplines including visual arts and crafts, music, dance, theatre, literature, design, film, and video.
  • Provides a unified voice for citizens, artists, and arts and education organizations throughout the state, and strengthens communications among local communities and all levels of government.
  • Provides a monthly electronic newsletter, action alerts, and an E-Advocacy Center for ease in making legislative contact.
Ohio Citizens for the Arts Member Benefits
Ohio Citizens for the Arts:
  • Publishes a monthly newsletter with information pertinent to the arts field locally, statewide, and nationally.
  • Tracks legislation effecting the arts in Ohio and nationally.
  • Contacts members to take action on pending legislation that impacts the arts.
  • Conducts workshops on topics such as advocacy throughout the year and works with individuals and organizations to provide these workshops and resources locally.
  • Provides information and effective strategies for working with public officials in support of the arts.
