ARTS/West, athens community gateway to the arts, is partnering with local dancer, singer/songwriter Missy Whaley to host the 3rd in a series of benefits in support of Missy Whaley’s new Artist in Community dance project “Angels and Wings” (working title), showcasing the collaboration and celebration of our own community and artists. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 7:00 pm, admission is a suggested donation of $25.00.
We are also proud to announce that the project “Angels and Wings” is being supported in-part by The Athens Foundation.
This month’s benefit features a sit-down dinner and dessert catered by Sam Chamberlain and the Purple Chopstix. Music during dinner will be provided by Bruce and Gay Dalzell. After dinner;you do the dancing with music provided by Longfellow http://www.longfellowfan.com/shows/index.php.
The benefits will support the project: “Angels and Wings” (working title) to include performances and residency activities. A dance theater piece will be created with the active participation of, filmmaker Steve Fetsch, participants and subjects. Helen Horn and Steve Fetsch have agreed to work with participants on how to conduct oral history research. The subject under investigation is “close to death experiences”, as seen from the subjects’ point of view.
The evening will begin at 7:00 pm, Saturday, June 24, 2006. Tickets are $15.00-$25.00 (sliding scale suggested donation.)
